Almond French Toast Hearts


Nothing says special like waking  your sweetheart up on Valentines Day, with this heart filled breakfast. Can be easily served in bed or at a beautifully set table.

  • Almond French Toast Hearts
  • 6 (1-inch-thick) slices bread
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ tsp almond extract
  • 2 tbsp butter or margarine
  • Sifted powdered sugar
  • Almond Butter
  • Fresh strawberries (optional)
  • Almond Butter:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 tbsp shifted powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  1. Cut a heart shape from each bread slice, using 31/2-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  2. Combine milk, eggs, and almond extract in a shallow dish; stir well. Dip 3 heart-shaped bread slices into egg mixture, turning to coat both sides.
  3. Melt 1 tbsp butter in a large skillet or on a hot griddle; arrange the 3 slices of bread in the skillet, and cook over medium heat 3 minutes on each side or until golden.
  4. Transfer to serving plate, and keep warm. Repeat procedure with remaining bread slices, egg mixture and butter. Sprinkle French toast with powdered sugar.
  5. Spoon Almond Butter into a pastry bag and pipe butter onto each heart, if desired. Garnish with fresh strawberries.

  7. Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl; beat at medium speed until smooth. Chill until slightly firm but soft enough to pipe.
